60+ All New Tally ERP 9 Shortcut Keys PDF Download

Tally ERP 9 Shortcut keys play a big role in completing any Tally task before its time limit. It helps us to finish our work faster and saves time. Save time means save money directly or indirectly.

Shortcut keys are the single or combination of keyboard keys to reach any feature of software as an alternative to a few mouse clicks.

As Tally is accounting software and accounts is just a numbers game. So whenever a user uses Tally in most cases, there are chances that the user’s hands are on the keyboard only, because to type numbers keyboard is the best option.

So we can’t assume Tally without shortcuts, it will become a very hectic task to reach out to the mouse after every few stock of keyboard and repeat it again and again after every few mouse clicks.

Switching between mouse and keyboard alternatively will be a very irritating and time-consuming task from the point of productivity. Due to this Tally played smartly and made Tally software fully compatible or operative with keyboard only.

Shortcuts make Tally more user-friendly. If you use tally shortcut keys, you can now finish your work faster than before by managing faster data entries, easily reaching out to any feature without touching the mouse.

As every Tally user knows that Tally is fully keyboard operative software, all though you can use mouse Tally shortcuts become the essential part of Tally.

Type of Shortcut

So now let’s talk about the shortcut keys, on a broad level we can divide the shortcut keys into two categories.

Function Shortcut Keys

Function keys shortcuts are the easiest shortcut of Tally because they operate only by pressing a single key that is already present on your keyboard.

As our keyboard has only 12 Function keys from F1 to F12 that’s why we have multi-function programmed with these 12 Function keys. Will discuss this later in this article.

As a Tally ERP 9 user, you all have seen the vertical dark green column on the right side of the Tally screen which contains all the menu options.

If you focus on any of the options you will find it starts with a Function Key or an Alphabet like F2: Date. It means, either you click on this option with your mouse or press F2 on your keyboard both will do the same task.

All the Function keys at the starting of any menu option are the function shortcut key for that option. For more understanding look at the picture post below.

But I know what is going around in your mind that there is more than one option with the same Function key and know-how to differentiate between them. So Don’t worry, I have already solved this confusion below under the head of “Identify Tally Shortcuts yourself”.

Alphabets Shortcut Keys

Alphabets shortcut keys are the keys where a sequence of alphabets use to reach any screen of Tally. These are also known as Red Color Alphabet shortcuts.

These are the most popular shortcut keys of Tally. We have shared a picture to Gateway of Tally below to show the example of Alphabets Shortcut.

Here If you see there is a bold letter in each option and when we select it with an arrow key that bold letter turns into red color, it indicates the shortcut key for that option. This means if you want to go to Inventory info. You have to press Just the red letter which is I for Inventory.

You can reach your desired screen by just pressing the red letter on the screen.

Let’s understand this with an example;
If you want to create a ledger in Tally, then you have to first press A, then L and at last C one by one.

Identify Tally Shortcuts Yourself ?

  1. Grey[Selected or Not Available]
  2. Normal[Direct]
  3. Single Underline[Alt]
  4. Double Underline[Ctrl]

Grey

If you can see in the above image F3: Company is in Grey, this happens in only two cases. Either you are already on that screen or currently selected option or either that menu function is not available on the current screen.

Single Underline Shortcuts[ALT]

As we see in the above image we find some options with an underline. It’s nothing complicated, you have to use the Alt key in combination with the Function key.

Like for Date you have to press F2 only but in the case of Period, you have to press both F2 + Alt keys simultaneously.

Double Underline Shortcuts[CTRL]

Yes, your guess is absolutely right in the case of double underline you have to use Ctrl in place of the Alt key.

Without Underline[Direct]

In the Absence of an underline, you have no need to press Ctrl or Alt or any other alternative key to reach the screen. You can press the function key standalone means only the function key is sufficient to perform the task.
